Action: what you can do to help The Common Good
I need people
There is so much to do on the national scene and world scene that I can't possibly do it all. I need a team of people so that we can get to know all the neccessary fields and get active in them and so that we can raise funds and gather expertise and knowledge. So please contact me.
Developing lobbying support in your area.
We want to develop support around the UK by encouraging people to lobby the government on many of the domestic and foreign policy issues described in the section headed Policy.
Later, we would like to find candidates to stand for the Common Good in their area in elections. Don't be daunted by this. Standing in a by-election costs around £1500 which breaks down as your £500 deposit which you should reckon to lose, but friends or local contacts might help you raise it if they agree with you. Leaflets for the free delivery would cost around another £500 and other expenses come to aobut £500 OR you may feel able to help someone else stand for election by fund raising, leafleting or talking to friends.
Lending your expertise in areas of policy
I would like to gather groups of people with expertise in different areas of policy and would welcome your contribution to understand each issue and to formulate policy in more detail. For instance, if you are a teacher or GP or probation officer and have views about how health or education or the criminal justice system should be organised, or you want to draw attention to problems that need to be addressed, I would really appreciate hearing from you.
I plan to put details of active campaigns on this part of the website.
Money
We need money to pay for leaflets and other expenses. If your gift is over £200 or if you are giving a gift in kind (eg the hire of a hall) of a value exceeding £50 then we need to know that you are on an electoral roll in the UK somewhere and your name and address. This is to comply with electoral legislation.
This folding machine would be very useful for producing presentable leaflets. Help in buying it at £595 plus VAT would be much appreciated.
